Ellie completed her undergraduate degree at University College Cork in Medical & Health Sciences, where she gained a broad but in-depth knowledge of many different aspects of medical research. From here, she pursued an MSc in molecular cancer biology, focusing on proliferation pathways in a particular type of brain tumour. She is now completing a PhD in Prof O’Mahony’s lab, where she is primarily focusing on the role of the microbiome in women’s health conditions, such as menopause and endometriosis, to further the understanding in symptom profiles and treatment strategies.
