TALKEndo launch event a huge success

On Monday the 28th of October, 2024, the #TALKEndo ENDO1000 campaign officially launched with an event at the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Regeneration and Repair.

Ambassadors for the campaign travelled from near and far for the launch event, featuring a talk from co-director of the ENDO1000 project, Professor Andrew Horne, and a call to action from founding ambassador Dr Marie Macklin, calling on Scottish and UK government, businesses, industry and the public to help us on our way to raising £1million for the study.  Ambassador Lyndsey Hogg shared her personal journey with endometriosis and highlighted the importance of the project. We also heard from Leisa who is leading on fundraising for ENDO1000 and she would love to hear from anyone who would like to take part in a fundraising event or can put us in contact with a potential supporter. It will take a huge team effort to reach our goal of raising £1million. To get involved with fundraising please contact Leisa on leisa.thomas@ed.ac.uk. Both Scottish and UK-wide media attended, crews from STV News and Channel 5 News, and the #TALKEndo campaign and ENDO1000 project were featured on BBC Radio 5 drive time on the 29th!

The ambassadors gathered for a ceremonial cutting of an ENDO1000 cake, before some time to network and for the research team and ambassadors to meet and chat!

The event also featured a very popular tour of the EndoHub and lab facilities, to see what will happen to samples and data when the project starts to take on participants in the autumn of 2025.

We would like to thank everyone who made it, and those who couldn’t join but have been doing their part to spread awareness and #TALKEndo.
